Bath Unblocking

When you think about unblocking something, it is usually the kitchen sink or the toilet that top the list.  But baths can become blocked as well and can cause real problems, especially if you find out while trying to clear a bath full of water!

Bath drain systems are usually a little different to sinks.  With sinks, there is a U-shaped drain underneath but with baths, this is more like a P-shaped.  This means there can be water trapped in the P section and this can lead to smells that waft back up the drain into the bathroom.

Also, this section can become blocked with hair and other debris.  Soap scum and other bath products can stick to the hair to cause a blockage.  This slows down the water draining from the bath at first but can lead to a full blockage where the water simply doesn’t flow away.

Unblocking a bath drain can something be an easy job but there’s also the risk of being too vigorous and pushing the P-shaped pipe away from the fitting.  That’s why it is often best to have a plumber look at it for you.  We can visit the property and examine the bath, make sure the blockage is cleared and that there are no leaks or other problems while there.
